LOCAL EXTERMINATOR

Your home should be your haven, not a nesting place for annoying and destructive pests. Whether you need preventative home property pest control or you need residential pest control for an existing infestation, you can count on the team at Columbia Pest Control to leave your home pest free. Learn below what kinds of pests we regularly target with home pest control.

HOUSE ANT TREATMENT

Ants, like all insects, have three main body regions. These body regions are very distinct, with obvious constrictions between the head and thorax, and thorax and abdomen. In the Pacific Northwest, House ants or Odorous house ants (Tapinoma sessile) are very common to find in our homes and structures during all times of the year and seasons.

We provide thorough treatments of your home or structure with Eco friendly products that are safe for you, your family, pets, plants, and with minimal impact on our environment. Depending on the level of activity, our technicians will also use a liquid or granular bait as well. The ants will get into our products while taking the bait back to the colony. Stoping them at their source.

We highly recommend A monthly maintenance program after the initial treatment for ongoing control of ant populations. Prices vary depending on the size of the structure and time needed onsite for treatment. Please contact our office for a free estimate.

“Columbia pest control got rid of my ants in one simple treatment. My family and I did not have to leave the house since it was odor free. Highly recommend them”

SPIDERS TREATMENT

Spiders ( Araneae) are air-breathing arthropods that have eight legs, chelicerae with fangs generally able to inject venom, and spinnerets that extrude silk. Arachnids are spiders, harvestmen, mites, ticks, and scorpions. All arachnids have eight legs, and unlike insects, they don’t have antennae. Most spiders create new webs very often to catch their prey. These webs can be where they are nesting. But Not all spiders create webs.

Our Spider treatments consist of removing or knocking down all webs where accessible. We treat the home or structure with a liquid spray that is safe for you, your family, and pets.

We highly recommend A monthly maintenance program after the initial treatment for ongoing control of spider populations. Prices vary depending on the size of the structure and time needed onsite for treatment. Please contact our office for a free estimate.

‘We moved to Lake Oswego and quickly realized there were way too many spiders on, and even in our house! Columbia came to our home, spent the time to help treat, and even explained that I needed maintenance. They were right. I appreciate the honesty from the tech’s, great work, plus Martha in the office is so nice! Highly recommend.’ - Alicia T.

RODENT CONTROL

Rats and mice are very common in the Pacific Northwest. They can enter your home or structure from the smallest openings, about the size of a dime for mice, and a quarter for rats. Once rodents enter your structure they start making nesting sites, potentially damaging your home or business, leaving droppings and scavenging for food.

We have seen a huge increase in rodent activity in the past few years around Portland and the surrounding areas. If you suspect or see signs of rodents in your structure, don’t wait any longer. Call us for a free estimate.

Mice and rats are a vector for diseases and will cause damage to the interior and exterior of your home or business. We use integrated pest management by sealing all minor rodent entry points, trapping interior nesting colonies, and by using bait stations along the exterior of structures to help reduce populations to a manageable level.

Environmental changes can greatly benefit reducing activity or access for the rodents. Bird feeders, nuts, fruit trees, leaving food out, overgrown plants touching or trees branching onto your home, can all increase potential rodent activity. When our technicians are on site, we will give our customers recommendations on changes that might help or discourage rodents from making your home theirs.

I had three other pest control companies come out for over a year to ‘solve’ my rat problem in my home. They never did and I was so frustrated. My friend recommended Columbia Pest to me and I couldn’t be happier. Mike came out and located their entry point in just 15 minutes. After just a few weeks he caught 7 rats! Problem solved. I can’t thank them enough

TERMITES IN PORTLAND

Identification

Termites rarely emerge from soil, mud tubes, or food sources through which they are tunneling. Most people are not aware they have termites until they see a swarm or come across damage during construction. Some of the ways to discover if you have termites are listed below:

  • Have a professional examine and inspect your home or structure by probing exposed wood members for hollow spots, or visually locate colonies with the presence of mud tube.

  • Identify termite swarms (sometimes ant swarms are mistaken as termites).

Ants

  • front wings longer than the hind wings

  • antennae bent at ninety degree angle

 Termites

  • wings are roughly equal in length

  • antennae are straight; may droop

Termite Damage

Termites are one of the most destructive insects found in the Pacific Northwest. Termites feed off of the cellulose that is a common organic compound found in plant materials like cotton, paper, and wood. Termites can break down the cellulose fibers found in wood and derive much-needed nutrients. They are one of the few organisms that relies on primarily on wood food source.

If termites go untreated, they can cause thousands of dollars in damage to your structure, potentially even making your structure uninhabitable.

Termite Treatment

We highly recommend having an inspection be completed to your home or structure to confirm the presence of an active termite colony to adequately write a bid and discuss treatment options. We strictly follow all Labels and EPA guidelines to ensure termites are treated correctly while reducing environmental impact. Depending on the species of termite and level of infestation, the treatments do vary. If you have any concerns of an active infestation or just want a peace of mind inspection completed, please contact our office.
